I’m A Nanny
December 8, 2005 by joannetan86
Cool, great. First, an obstetrician, now I’m a nanny. Life can’t get any funnier than this. Well, thanx to my dog. She delivered not one, two or three puppies but FOUR! My goodness… now I’m facing problems sleeping at night. Since the day she gave birth to those rather annoying brats, I’m deprived of sleep. I only get to sleep like 4 to 5 hours daily. And helloooo, does anyone know that this is my holiday season? I’m supposed to sleep late and wake up late. But when duty calls, I guess I’ll just have to follow. The thought that they are still very young and dependent always cloud my mind. I wonder, sometimes, if they know that they exist. I guess their brains are not yet fully developed. All they know now: “CRY when I’m hungry” “CRY when I’m feeling cold” “CRY when mom’s not around” “CRY cos I poo-poo” etc. Due to insufficient production of mother’s milk, we are now tube-feeding them with goat’s milk. Their appetite is rather queer and odd. Sometimes, they would cry in the middle of the night and I have to get up and make them some milk. You have to make sure that the milk is not too hot or not too cold; in other words, just nice and the temperature of the milk has to be somewhere around 37 to 38 degree Celsius (almost equivalent to the mother’s normal body temperature). Plus, the mother is starting to show signs of refusing to milk her puppies. She’s tired and exhausted and anxious altogether, having to put up with the “attitudes” of her young-ones. So I have to assist her in making sure that her puppies grow healthily and that is certainly consciousness-consuming. I hope everything will be better when the weekend approaches. Wishing that next week would be a nicer week. Hafta run now; puppies are crying.
